PG&E Pipeline Replacement Project Begins in West Sacramento in Late August

PGE LogoPG&E has scheduled a pipeline replacement project to replace sections of its gas pipeline, beginning the week of August 19th and continuing into late November. The pipeline project occurs primarily along West Capitol Avenue, from I-80, east to Jefferson Boulevard, as well as Jefferson Boulevard, from West Capitol Avenue south to 15th Street, east to the Sacramento river. Once the project begins, it is expected to take four consecutive months to complete.

PG&E is resolved to complete the construction with minimal interference to the public. Most of the work along West Capitol Avenue will occur during daytime hours, with at least one lane of traffic provided in both the eastbound and westbound directions. The work on Jefferson Boulevard is expected in the evening hours, with at least one lane of traffic available to northbound and southbound traffic.

Access to properties adjacent to the work zone will be provided at all times. Coordination is taking place to ensure roadway access is not interrupted for emergency responders, Yolobus, and Waste Management.
The pipeline project will occur on the following roadways: West Capitol Avenue, Harbor Boulevard, Westacre Road, Merkley Avenue, Jefferson Boulevard, 15th Street and South River Road. Minor, temporary traffic delays and detours are anticipated, but plans are underway to minimize traffic delays during peak traffic periods.
On Tuesday, Aug. 20, PG&E has scheduled a public open house to meet with citizens about the project between the hours of 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the City Hall first floor Galleria, 1110 West Capitol Ave.
