West Sacramento Christmas Basket Project is Hosting a Toy Run, Custom Car Show and Rolling Cruise

The West Sacramento Christmas Basket Project is a non-profit organization that has provided meals to families in need for over 41 years. Each year the organization strives to furnish 800 to a 1000 qualifying families in West Sacramento with a Christmas dinner. The program also aspires to give each child a toy and new warm clothing; however, this has not been entirely possible over the last few years and some children have gone without gifts. As a result, the volunteers who coordinate the program are organizing a custom car show and rolling cruise to generate donations for this cause.

The event will be held on Saturday, November 9th at Raley Field. The car show will be open to the public from 10am to 2pm. Parking will be $5.00 at the gate. The rolling cruise through the city will begin at 2pm following the show. Spectators may also view the car cruise from West Sacramento City Hall.

The event will include raffle prizes, vendor displays, food trucks, a K9 demonstration and a road themed rock band, Rockin’ Down the Hiway, “The Ultimate Musical Road Trip”. It is requested that each car entry provide new toys, canned goods or new children’s clothing. Spectators are also encouraged to donate those items.

Proceeds will also go to the WSPD Christmas Gift delivery program to families in need. It is hoped that this festive family event will become part of the West Sacramento community’s Christmas traditions.
