City Council Selects Johannessen as Mayor Pro Tem

The West Sacramento City Council has selected Mark Johannessen as Mayor Pro Tem, effective Dec. 11, 2013. Mr. Johannessen succeeds Chris Ledesma, who remains a member of the City Council. The Mayor Pro Tem serves in the absence of the Mayor when the Mayor is not available for City Council meetings or City events. The Mayor Pro Tem serves a term of one year.

Currently serving his second term on the City Council, Mr. Johannessen was originally elected to the council in the fall of 2006. This is his first opportunity to serve as Mayor Pro Tem.

Although West Sacramento citizens vote to elect the city’s Mayor and City Council members, the City Council selects each Mayor Pro Tem.

In addition to Mayor Pro Tem Johannessen and Council Member Ledesma, the current members of the West Sacramento City Council are Mayor Christopher Cabaldon, Bill Kristoff and Oscar Villegas.

The next regular meeting of the West Sacramento City Council is Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, 7 p.m. at City Hall, 1110 West Capitol Ave.
