Clarksburg Branch Pedestrian and Bike Trail Opening, Jan. 31

A ribbon-cutting to mark the official opening of the Clarksburg Branch Line Pedestrian and Bike Trail, is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 31, 10 a.m. east of Target. The 1.25 mile trail runs north/south, west of River City High School and Southport Town Center and north to South River Road. The Clarksburg Branch Line Trail provides a paved walkway, connector trails, and signage. See Vicinity map.

 

The multi-modal project is funded by a Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) improvement federal grant and includes the following:

  • The main trail will feature a paved 10-foot wide pathway and a 4-foot wide aggregate base shoulder to the east;
  • Five connector trails to Stonegate Drive, Southport Town Center, Trinity Way, River City High School / City Recreation Center, Cherokee Road;
  • ADA compliant upgrades to existing concrete flatwork; and
  • Installation of signage, striping, pavement markings and other related improvements.
