Celebrate the First Families of East Yolo with the Historical Society

The West Sacramento Historical Society plans two activities in honor of “Our Journey—the First Families of East Yolo”:

  • Tuesday, March 25, 4 p.m.-7 p.m. at the West Sacramento Community Center, 1075 West Capitol Ave. You’re invited to the “Our Journey” closing reception in the Historical Gallery, featuring artifacts and a photo exhibit from the California State Parks. The event includes food from the California Indian, Hawaiian and Portuguese cultures. Free!
  • Sunday, March 30, 9 a.m.-11 a.m. at the Bryte Memorial VFW Hall, 1708 Lisbon Ave. A photo gallery will be on display at the historic site of events presented by the Federated Indians of California. The Bryte VFW site is the same location of the first public dance in 1950 of the Mewauk (Miwok) Dancers—a group that eventually became known as the California Indian Dance and Cultural Group. A no host breakfast meal is available March 30th.
