New Film about Urban Farming in America, Jan. 25

Growing CitiesYou’re hearing more and more about West Sacramento’s spot in the Global Food Hub, with many food businesses actively producing and distributing food. West Sacramento is also home each spring and summer to a weekly Farmers Market. And in 2014, West Sacramento began establishing urban farms on city owned properties, like at 5th and C.

A new movie captures this respect for the land producing our food and sustaining our quality of life. The award-winning film, Growing Cities, is about urban farming in America. A special screening is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 25, 5 p.m. at Yolo Brewing Company, 1520 Terminal St., West Sacramento. Tickets are only $5 per person. Beer and food available. The Center for Land-Based Learning hosts the film followed by a panel discussion with local urban farmers, policy makers and urban farming advocates.
