Keeping the Air Clean 364 out of 365 Days Last Year

YoloSolanoWest Sacramento is part of the Yolo-Solano Air Quality Management District (AQMD). The District provides advisories when it’s OK and not OK to light fireplaces and wood stoves during the winter season.  Residents can sign up for e-mail or text message alerts at http://ysaqmd.enviroflash.org. Advisories also appear on the AQMD’s Facebook page: facebook.com/YoloSolanoAir.

In its annual report for 2014, the AQMD said the District’s air quality was healthy in 364 of 365 days, leaving only one day in which the air quality was unhealthy for sensitive groups. The annual report includes air quality data and information on the AQMD’s programs, achievements and goals. It also includes information on the District’s budget, incentive and grant programs and pollution source oversight. The report can be viewed at ysaqmd.org/reports.

The AQMD’s executive director, Mat Ehrhardt, said, “In 2015 and beyond, we’ll continue to be responsible regulators of the air, protecting our clean air future without burdening local businesses.”

The District was named a “Bicycle Friendly Business” last year by the League of American Bicyclists.
