Traffic Advisory: Major Delays Expected April 17-20 on Eastbound I-80 through West Sacramento

Caltrans logoCaltrans urges motorists to avoid using the segment of eastbound I-80 between US 50 and I-5 , beginning Friday, April 17, 10 p.m. and continuing thru Monday, April 20, 5 a.m. Lane closures will be in effect on I-80 east of the Sacramento River.

Eastbound I-80 traffic will be reduced to one lane. The West El Camino off-ramp will be closed as well. The lane and ramp closures are required by Caltrans to complete paving the eastbound #2 and #3 lanes just east of the Bryte Bend Bridge.

West Sacramento residents are encouraged to avoid using I-80 along the city’s western border. Instead, use eastbound Highway 50 and northbound I-5 to avoid the Caltrans project. It’s also suggested that motorists coming east from the Davis area on I-80 toward North Sacramento or Placer County use eastbound Highway 50 , then take the northbound I-5 to reconnect to I-80 in North Natomas.

With eastbound traffic expected to be heavy from the Highway 50/I-80 interchange north from West Sacramento to North Natomas, plan ahead for expected delays and increased travel time. Be patient, stay alert. Remember to “Slow for the Cone Zone” and “Be Work Zone Alert”. The CHIP will be onsite for traffic enforcement.

Caltrans will continue to update the public on changing conditions through social media. For additional project information, including detours, go to www.80AcrossTheTop.com .
