City Leaders Recruit New Business in East Asia

City Manager Martin Tuttle and Economic Development Project Manager Diane Richards are on a trade mission in South Korea and Japan to attract new businesses to West Sacramento.

West Sacramento City Manager Martin Tuttle and CalAsian Chamber Leadership outside the U.S. Embassy in Seoul with U.S. Foreign Commercial Service Officer Keenton Chiang.

They’ve joined other regional leaders as part of a group oganized by the CalAsian Chamber of Commerce. The goal is to recruit new companies to join West Sacramento’s growing global food industry hub.

West Sacramento is home to several food manufacturing firms including Raley’s Family of Fine Stores, Nor-Cal Beverage and Tony’s Fine Foods.

Recent additions to West Sacramento’s Southport Business Park include Japan’s Shinmei U.S.A. which makes gluten-free rice buns, and Nippon Shokken, maker of Japanese sauces and seasonings.

Part of the trade mission itinerary is a tour of Nippon Shokken’s headquarters in Chiba Prefecture.
