The City of Sacramento is about to begin construction of a new entrance into Old Sacramento that will likely result in eastbound traffic delays from West Sacramento over the Tower Bridge onto Capitol Mall.
Work is expected to start in late July and continue through the fall of 2016. While traffic delays can’t be avoided, city planners from both West Sacramento and Sacramento are working to minimize the travel impacts. Details on specific dates, lane closures and alternative routes will be available shortly.
The Riverfront Reconnection Project includes construction of the 2nd Street and Capitol Mall Connector Bridge providing a new entrance for cars, bicycles and pedestrians into Old Sacramento from Capitol Mall at 2nd Street and Neasham Circle.
