City of West Sacramento Administrative Services Director Phil Wright has been chosen as the Sacramento Business Journal’s “Chief Finacial Officer of the Year” in the Government category.
Wright was hired in 2007 and helped West Sacramento ride out the recession and recover from the loss of redevelopment funds. He also helped facilitate the effort to put the Port of West Sacramento in the hands of a private operator. That led to the port’s first profitable year in more than a decade. “He really gets people to do their best work and break down silos between departments,” says West Sacramento Mayor Christopher Cabaldon.
City Manager Martin Tuttle praises Wright as a team player. “He represents our staff culture very well. He’s a tireless worker and an endless problem solver.”
