West Sacramento Mayor Pro Tem Babs Sandeen and Council Member Chris Ladesma participated in the official ribbon cutting, which was attended by scientists and agricultural leaders from throughout the area along with state representatives from FFA-Future Farmers of America.

Jim Houston, Undersecretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture said Bayer is helping create “the Silicon Valley of ag research, right here in Yolo County.” He said Bayer’s research into biopesticides is not only good for the region, but also for consumers and seed producers throughout California and the world.

Tomatoes, carrots, peppers, onions, and melons will be grown and tested in the greenhouses.
