  • June 9, 2016 – ALL THINGS STRING at 6pm-8pm Whether you knit, crochet, embroider, or enjoy other fiber arts, this social crafting circle is for you! Bring your current project or start something new!
  • Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 4pm – 5pm Python Ron’s Reptile Kingdom (all ages) Back by popular demand! Come and learn all about the different creatures that travel with Python Ron. You will be fascinated to see 4 foot long lizards to an 18 foot python!
  • June 15, 2016 – WHAT’S HAPPENING, SENIORS? at 12pm-1:30pm Do you want to get together with interested and active seniors? Do you want to make new friends, share stories, learn from one another and plan activities? Join our group and find out “What’s Happening” in West Sacramento and beyond!
  • June 15, 2016 – EVENING BOOK CLUB at 6pm-7:00pm Join us for our monthly evening book club. Books are collected and distributed at the meeting. This month’s reading selection will be “A Spoon of Blue Thread” by Anne Tyler. Please contact Cindy at (916) 731-5504 for more information.
  • June 15, 2016 – Author Talk at the Turner Library from 6pm to 7pm. Kyo Sato, retired from USAF Nurse Corps, talks about her family’s experience in the Poston Internment Camp in Arizona. Free.
  • June 16, 2016 – Free Hearing Screening and Phone from 11am to 2pm at the Turner Library, 1212 Merkley Ave. Come for a free hearing screening by an audiologist and get your free phone the same day. More information: 1-800-806-1191 or www.CaliforniaPhones.org
  • Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 4pm – 5:30pm Post-It Note Arts (ages 13-17) Teens are invited to come and join us at the library to create their favorite sport mascot art piece using Post-It Notes. Post-It Notes will be provided. No registration required. The best mascot piece will win a prize!
  • June 17, 2016 – THERAPEUTIC TAI CHI AND QIQONG PART VIII at 4pm-5pm Come and learn a series of movements and breathing exercise for general wellness, stress relief, physical balance, flexibility and fall prevention. Part VIII, we shall continue the Tai Chi and Qigong Zoo exercises and learn various animals’ movements for flexibility, strength and fun imagination. Let the crane, deer, tiger, rooster, snake, bear and monkey inspire us to be physically and mentally healthier and agile. Dr. Gigi Tze-yue Hu is a semi-retired Asian Studies scholar and is currently completing her Master Degree in Tai Chi.
  • Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 12pm – 6pm Special Tot Play Time – Olympic Games (ages 0-5) A monthly special play tot time designed for toddlers and their parents or caregivers. Come out and play toddler Olympic Games that involve marble racing, bowling, and making your own Olympic torch! Expand your child’s imagination through playing and a chance to win prizes!
  • June 18, 2016 – IT Consultant by Appointments Only at 2pm-3pm A new service to our patrons. Make an appointment at the reference desk and come with questions along with your laptop or mobile device. We will also have a Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Apple device. Time slots are limited, 20 minutes and available in English.
  • Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 4pm – 5pm Olympic Games (ages 6-12) Kids ages 6 through 12 and their parents or caregivers are invited to come out and participate in fun Olympic Games that involve jump roping, Frisbee toss, and much more! All participants will be entered for a chance to win prizes!
  • Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 6pm – 7pm YOGA (ages 18 +) This is a beginner class introducing the fundamental principles of alignment and breathing work in a flow of postures. Participants will be introduced to yoga postures through step-by-step verbal description and demonstration.

  • Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 4pm – 5pm LEGO Competition (ages 6-12) Kids ages 6 through 12 and their parents or caregivers are invited to come out and participate in a Lego Competition! Come to the library to build the most creative sports themed Lego masterpiece. All participants will be entered for a chance to win prize!
  • Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 4pm – 5pm LEGO Competition (ages 6-12) Kids ages 6 through 12 and their parents or caregivers are invited to come out and participate in a Lego Competition! Come to the library to build the most creative sports themed Lego masterpiece. All participants will be entered for a chance to win prize!

ON-GOING PROGRAMS:

  • ENGLISH CONVERSATION GROUPS – Thursdays at 4pm-5pm and Fridays at 10am-11am. Join our adult Conversation Group and improve your English in a fun and relaxed way with the aid of a group facilitator. No registration is required; drop-in visitors are welcome.
  • RUSSIAN STORY TIME – Tuesdays at 6:30pm-7:30pm. Children and their families are encouraged to join us for stories and songs in Russian.
  • SPANISH/ENGLISH STORY TIME – Saturdays at 11am-12pm. Children ages 2 to 6 years and their parents are invited to join us for stories, songs, movement, rhymes and finger plays.
