Grand Opening of Joey Lopes Park

The City of West Sacramento opened its newest park today named after famed West Sacramento boxer Joey Lopes. The four acre park has play equipment, lighting, benches, picnic tables, drinking fountains, two shade shelters, half-court basketball, and a community garden. It replaces what was once a vacant lot at the corner of West Capitol Avenue and Sycamore. More than 100 friends and family attended the ceremony which also featured the unveiling of a beautiful Joey Lopes sculpture and a new Park Watch program which is designed to keep the park safe.
