Grand Opening for Village Parkway North

The Village Parkway North extension has officially opened following a ribbon cutting ceremony. The two-lane, 0.4 mile roadway includes bike lanes that are eight feet in width, two roundabouts with separated bike paths, well-lit pedestrian sidewalks, more than 180 trees that provide generous amounts of shade, and stamped asphalt which provides a safe buffer between bicyclists and vehicles.

The completion of Village Parkway North serves as the final connection envisioned by the City’s General Plan to provide a convenient north-south traffic alternative to Jefferson Boulevard. It will also improve traffic flow from Southport though Pioneer Bluff, and from The Bridge District to the Tower Bridge Gateway.
