Several roads in Yolo County have been closed due to saturated soil, including portions of South River and Old River Roads. Please click on the map below for specifics.
Also, a five-mile section of South River Road within the West Sacramento city limits remains shut down to thru traffic until further notice. The roadway sits atop the city’s protective levee next to the Sacramento River.
West Sacramento Police and Public Works crews have set up “no thru traffic” signs on South River Road from the McGowan Bridge south to Gregory Avenue. Signs are also posted at Linden Road and Davis Road access points.
Due to heightened river levels and water saturation from the recent storms, Reclamation District 900 personnel have increased levee patrols 24/7 and need the roadway free of traffic to access and maintain the levee.
The South River road closure also restricts access to fishermen who park along the side of the levee, and off road vehicle activity, which has the potential to cause levee erosion. The public is being asked to stay off the levees and call West Sacramento police at 916-372-3375 to report any suspicious incidents.
