River Walk Hosts Safe Boating Week Event This Saturday

Riverwalk Pano by Dan

The City of West Sacramento is partnering with the Coast Guard for an educational  safe boating event on the West Sacramento River Walk Park, Saturday, May 20th, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Life Jacket

The gathering will feature Coast Guard and City rescue vessels, educational and informational booths as well as life jacket and other safety related giveaways. This is an excellent opportunity to provide positive information related to police and fire departments as well as vital safety information that could save a life.

Bring the Family, and your lunch to the West Sacrament River Walk and watch a United States Coast Guard Helicopter perform a ‘Rescue Swimmer’ demonstration and The Drowning Accident Rescue Team [D.A.R.T] perform ‘Swift Water Rescue’ demonstrations while enjoying the many Water Safety displays.

Life Jacket World Record Day!

Bring a Life Jacket with you and participate in helping thousands of people from around the world attempt to set the world record for the most life jackets worn and inflatable life jackets inflated on one day.

Families are encouraged to bring their children to participate in the group photo with West Sacramento Mayor Christopher Cabaldon, members of the City Council, Chief of Police, Fire Chief, Director of City Parks and Recreation, and the Coast Guard.  If you have a Life Jacket… bring it along!

This event will be photographed and documented to record how many people attended and wore their life jacket.  The record to beat this year is 10,917!
