2013 Oil Filter Exchange and Wood Chip Event

RecyclingOil Filter Exchange

Do you change your own oil?  Do you recycle the oil and the filter too?  Do you want to receive a free oil filter just for recycling your old one?  Well, you can!   The Environmental Services Division is hosting an oil filter exchange event on April 27, 2013, at the West Sacramento AutoZone and O’Reilly Auto Parts stores.  Residents simply bring a used motor oil filter to either store to receive a free comparable oil filter.  Limit 2 per resident.

Events will also be held at AutoZone and O’Reilly Auto Parts Stores in Davis and Woodland and are open to all Yolo County residents.

Did you know that filters are composed of steel and are highly recyclable?  If all the filters sold each year in the U.S. were recycled, 160,000 tons of steel would be recovered!

Free Wood Chips

Public Works is again offering free wood chips to West Sacramento residents. Wood chips work well as mulch around trees and shrubs in springtime garden projects.  Residents are asked to bring their own tools to load the chips and a tarp to cover a pickup load. Details:

What:  First come, first served wood chip give away (one residential pick-up load per
household)

When:  Saturday, April 27, 2013 9:00am-Noon, or until chips are gone

Where:  Public Works Corporation Yard 1951 South River Road.
