West Sacramento Farmers Market Steams Ahead Thursday With Fun & Creative New Ideas

West Sacramento Farmers Market LogoThe new West Sacramento Farmers Market is off to a running start, and the second installment is this Thursday, June 13. The market starts at 4:30 pm and lasts until dusk at its new location on West Capitol Avenue in front of City Hall.

The list of vendors is growing, and will continue to feature a wide assortment of farm-fresh produce, meats, specialty foods and baked goods. Local restaurants and food trucks will line the street, providing an opportunity for visitors to enjoy dinner and stock up on fresh ingredients for the week.

In addition to a great collective of local farms and vendors, the West Sacramento Farmers Market will treat visitors to special events and workshops that will focus on lifestyle elements popular to those who have a passion for fresh and locally sourced goods.

Good Living at the Market is a series of workshops, focusing on different components of healthy living: green living, food preservation, composting, bicycling and more.

Tonight Chef Noah Zonca will be doing a live demo and Q&A, sharing creative ideas with attendees on how to prepare for this Summer’s onslaught of fresh tomatoes. The West Sacramento Master Gardeners will be conducting a workshop entitled, “What’s Bugging You?” including a live demonstration and more. The River City Rowing  Club will be giving rowing lessons, and West Sacramento PD Officer Roger Kinney and K-9 Officer Zar will be leading an obedience and narcotics search demonstration.

Food trucks will be onsite, adding more great dining opportunities for attendees. Expect great eats from Local Kine Shave Ice, Addison’s Originals, California Love Truck, Kombucha Kulture & Wicked ‘Wich.

The City of West Sacramento and Yolo County Transportation District played an integral role in relocating the market onto both sides of West Capitol Avenue between City Hall and the Community Center.  Visitors will enjoy this brand new perspective of West Sacramento, as the market will draw people far and wide who truly understand- it all starts with the right ingredients.
