TOMRA to Break Ground on New West Sacramento Facility

TOMRA Sorting Solutions is beginning construction of a new West Sacramento facility, located at 875 Embarcadero Dr. The facility will become the North American headquarters and sales center for agri-business customers including Monsanto and ConAgra.  TOMRA produces commercial food sorting and peeling equipment in Slovakia, and ships them to West Sacramento for final assembly, testing, service and delivery.  Customers include large farms and major agri-business customers. TOMRA bought West Sacramento firm, Odenberg, a producer of potato peeling machines in 2011. TOMRA is investing $5 million in the new building and equipment. The West Sacramento operation currently employs 45 employees and expects to add another 20-25 employees in the coming years.

TOMRA reports that 70 percent of the world’s french fries and 97 percent of potatoes are processed by TOMRA equipment.  Officials from TOMRA’s headquarters in Oslo, Norway will attend the Aug. 13, 9:30 a.m. groundbreaking.
