“Covered California” Public Information/Education Workshops

Many Americans who are presently uninsured or under-insured will soon have access to affordable healthcare. Following the passage of national health care reform (The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010), California has enacted legislation to establish a state agency, the California Health Benefit Exchange, to implement the new law.

“Covered California” is providing consumer education on the California Healthcare Exchange, thru the UC Davis Center for Reducing Health Disparities. A series of “no cost” consumer education workshops are scheduled for the Arthur F. Turner Community Library, 1212 Merkley Ave., on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, Sept. 17, 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m.
  • Thursday, Oct. 3, 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 15, 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m.

The workshops are free and open to all residents. For more information, go to www.CoveredCA.com or call, (888) 975-1142.

Starting next year, Covered California will begin offering a range of health care coverage that will make it easier for individuals and small businesses to purchase quality health coverage.
