Fire Chief Moving On

West Sacramento Fire DepartmentWest Sacramento Fire Chief Al Terrell has announced that he will become the Director of Fire and Emergency Services in Sonoma County, Dec. 2, 2013. His last day as the City’s fire chief is Nov. 29, following over five years of service to West Sacramento. The City has started the process to recruit and select a new chief.

The City Manager has appointed former SacMetro Fire Chief Rick Martinez to serve as the City’s interim fire chief, filling Chief Al Terrell’s position on December 2nd.  Chief Martinez has an impressive record of service in the region.  In addition to his 10-year run as SacMetro’s Chief, he worked 21 years with the Sacramento City Fire Department, served as Director of Yolo County’s Office of Emergency Services, and as Chief of the Emergency Services for Sacramento City/County.  See this link for further information on his background: Chief Martinez Bio
