Special Programs in April at the Arthur F. Turner Library

The Arthur F. Turner Community Library has a series of special programs in April 2014  – take a good look!

  • Computer Basics for Beginners, Tuesday, April 1, 9 a.m.-10 a.m. Learn about the different parts of a computer, how to use a mouse and keyboard, and increase your confidence in computer use. No experience necessary. Call the Turner Library to register, (916) 375-6465.
  • Where Were You When? Wednesday, April 9, 11 a.m. This social group is for older adults; the meeting begins with discussion of a historic event, “where were you when?”
  • All Things String, Thursday, April 10 and Wednesday, April 23, 6 p.m. Whether you knit, crochet, embroider or enjoy other fiber arts, this social crafting circle is for you! Bring your current project or start something new.
  • Low Water Landscapes, Saturday, April 12, 10 a.m.-noon. Join the Yolo County Master Gardeners for this interactive family-friendly workshop on how to save water and still grow a great garden.
  • Dia de los Niños / Dia de los Libros, Saturday, April 26, 1 p.m.-4 p.m. A multicultural celebration of children, books and literacy is coming to Yolo County libraries in April. Crafts, games, face-painting, storytelling, cultural presentations and more. FREE BOOKS for ALL CHILDREN IN ATTENDANCE.
  • Tails for Tales, Monday, April 28, 4 p.m. School aged children are invited to come to the library and practice reading with a therapy dog.
  • In-N-Out Reading Program, April 1-April 12. A reading incentive program for children, ages 4-12. When a child had read five books, the child will be presented with an Achievement Award, good for a free hamburger or cheeseburger at any In-N-Out location. Sign up at the Turner Library, 1212 Merkley Ave.
  • Buddy Reading, Mondays in April at 4:30 p.m. Practice reading with an older “buddy.” Each child will be paired up with a River City High School “Interact Club” member for a 15-30 minute ready session. No reservations required.
