Deadline Approaching: West Sacramento City Council Seeking Applicants for Vacant City Council Seat

The City Council of West Sacramento is seeking applications from residents to fill the remaining term of the City Council seat formerly occupied by Oscar Villegas, until November 2016.  Mr. Villegas was appointed by the Governor to the Yolo County Board of Supervisors. The Council seat has been vacant since February 20th.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, live within the City of West Sacramento, and be registered to vote in West Sacramento at the time of application. If you are interested in applying for this position and have questions please contact the City Clerk’s Office at 1110 West Capitol Avenue, 3rd Floor or by calling 916 617-4500.  Please note that the timeline is very short and is as follows:

  • Application Period- March 7th through March 20th at 5:00 p.m.

(Applications are to be returned to the City Clerk’s Office. No email or faxes.)

  • Finalists to be notified no later than March 27th.

(The Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem will review the applications and select the finalists.)

  • Finalists to be interviewed by the City Council at the City Council’s regularly scheduled meeting on April 2nd at 7:00 p.m.

(This will be an open and public process. In the interest of fairness, applicants are discouraged from contacting or meeting privately with individual Council members. The Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem will decline all requests to meet.)
