Special Programs in May at the Arthur F. Turner Library

Check out the Arthur F. Turner Community Library for a series of special programs in May 2014:

  • Intermediate Computer Class, May 6, 9 a.m. Go beyond the basics with an intermediate computer class, focusing on creating documents and surfing the web. Questions and practice time available at the end of the class.
  • All Things String, May 8 and May 28, 6 p.m. Whether you knit, crochet, embroider or enjoy other fiber arts, this social crafting circle is for you! Bring your current project or start something new.
  • Bike Safety for All Ages, May 10, 11 a.m. You’re invited to a family-friendly program on bike safety and maintenance. West Sacramento Police Officer Nora McDowell will be the special guest.
  • Evitando Conflictos – ¡en Español! Un taller educativo y gratis sobre cómo evitar conflictos y luchas de poder con sus hijos. Presentado en español por Victor Community Support Services. 12 de Mayo a las 5:30 en la Biblioteca Arthur F. Turner.
  • Where Were You When. . .Wednesday, May 14, 11 a.m. This social group for older adults will start each session with a historic event to spark discussion.
  • Family Gardening Program, May 17, 10 a.m. The Yolo County Master Gardeners host this interactive, family-friendly program about flowering bulbs and spring garden maintenance.
  • Teen Pizza Social, May 23, 4 p.m. Teens-only, please drop in for an afternoon pizza social.
  • Japanese Drum Group, May 31st, 2 p.m. Families are invited to celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month with a presentation of traditional and contemporary styles of Taiko drumming.
  • Buddy Reading, Mondays, 4:30 p.m. Practice reading with an older “buddy.” Each child will be paired up with a high school student from River City High School Interact Club for a 15-30 minute reading session. No reservations required.
  • English Conversation Groups, Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m.; Thursdays at 4 p.m.; and Fridays at 10 a.m. Practice English in a fun and relaxed environment. Drop in visitors are welcome.
