May is Water Awareness Month

As 2014 emerges as another dry year the City of West Sacramento encourages residents to observe May as Water Awareness Month.  Make conservation a daily habit and help conserve water by practicing the following conservation measures:

  • Do not use precious water to wash down sidewalks, streets, parking lots, or buildings, or to cool building roofs;
  • Water lawns or landscaping in the early morning or after 6 p.m.;
  • Only wash your vehicle with a hose equipped with a nozzle that automatically shuts off water flow when not in use or use a car wash that uses recycled water;
  • Limit outdoor watering to an odd/even schedule.  Customers with street addresses that end in an odd number may only irrigate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.  Customers with street addresses that end in an even number may only irrigate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.  No irrigation is permitted on Mondays.
