Free Things to Do in November at the Turner Community Library

Special events in November include:

NaNoWriMo—Saturdays in November: All Month Long-National Novel Writing Celebration—Join us each Saturday from 2-4pm and get started on that novel you’ve always wanted to write.

Computer Class – Tuesday, November 4th at 9am: Creating Custom Holiday Cards.  Visit or call the Library to register.

Video Game Afternoon – November 7th at 4pm: Teens are invited to come and play video games. All supplies provide.

All Things String – November 13th  at 6pm: Whether you knit, crochet, embroider, or enjoy other fiber arts, this social crafting circle is for you! Bring your current project or start something new!

Where Were You When? – November 19th at 11am: This social group for older adults will start each session with a historic event to spark discussion.

Evening Book Club – November 19th at 6pm: Books are collected and distributed at the meetings.  Please contact Cindy at 916-731-5504 for more information.

Tales for Tails – November 24th at 4pm: School aged children are invited to come to the Library and practice reading with a therapy dog. 

Regular Ongoing programs include:

Buddy Reading – Mondays at 4:30 pm: Practice reading with an older “buddy”. Each child will be paired up with a high school student from the River City High School Interact Club for a 30-minute reading session. Reservations are required.

Homework Center Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30-5:30pm: FREE afterschool program for students in grades 3 through 8 to receive homework help. Pre-registration is required. Visit the Library to sign up.

Mother Goose on the Loose Tuesdays at 11:15am: Parents with children ages 12 to 36 months are invited to join us for music, movement, visual literacy and language development. Limited to the first 20 families.

Preschool Story Time Wednesdays at 11:15am: Parents and children ages 3 to 5 are invited to join us for stories, rhymes, fingerplays and songs to help develop early literacy skills and encourage children to engage in group participation.

Hug-a-Bye Baby Thursdays at 11:15am: A warm and cuddly lap-sit program that will share with parents and caregivers ways to stimulate language development through songs, lullabies, fingerplays and books. This program is for infants 0 to 18 months ONLY.

English Conversation Groups – Tuesdays 6:30-7:30pm, Thursdays 4-5pm and Fridays 10-11am: Join our adult Conversation Group and improve your English in a fun and relaxed way with the aid of a group facilitator. No registration is required; drop-in
visitors are welcome.
