Community Library Hosts Events Throughout November

Check out the November Programs hosted by the Arthur F. Turner Community Library below. All events are FREE and take place at 1212 Merkley Avenue in West Sacramento!

Ongoing Programs

Buddy Reading: Mondays at 4:30 p.m.
Practice reading with an older “buddy.” Each child will be paired up with a high school student from the River City High School Interact Club for a 30-minute reading session.  This helps builds confidence in reading out loud and comprehension in reading. After 10 visits, a participant can pick 1 free book.  Registration Required.
Mother Goose on the Loose: Tuesdays at 11:00 a.m.
An award winning program for children (ages 12 to 36 months) and their parents or caregivers that combines music, movement, visual literacy and language development to help children develop emotionally and socially while encouraging a positive attitude towards learning.
Homework Center: Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:30 p.m. Participation is free and pre-registration is required at the Information Desk. For additional information contact the Homework Center Assistant at (916) 375-6469.
Bilingual Russian Story Time: Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m.
Children up to 5 years old and their parents or caregivers are invited to join us for stories, songs, movement, rhymes and finger-plays in Russian and English. Arts and crafts will also be provided as part of this story time.
Preschool Story Time: Wednesdays at 11:00 a.m. Children ages 3 to 5 years and their parents or caregivers are invited to join us for stories, rhymes, song and finger-plays to help develop early literacy skills and encourage group participation.
English Conversation Group: Wednesdays at 4:00 p.m. and Fridays at 10:00 a.m.
Hug-a-Bye Baby: Thursdays at 11:00 a.m. Children up to 12 months of age and their parents or caregivers are invited to this lap-sit program that features language development through songs, picture books, finger-plays and lullabies. 
Hora de Cuentos/Bilingual Spanish Story Time: Saturdays at 11:00 a.m.
